The best anti aging skincare routine ever

Anti Aging pops up into a girl’s mind the moment they hit 25 – 30 and many are left with so many unanswered questions on what, how, why, where. When a person hits the age of 30, the cell turnover rate slows down, collagen is lost nearly 1% every year, skin will start to look dull and dehydrated.

Anti aging routine

The products and routine that work usually in the 20’s may not cut the edge once a person hits their 30’s and 40's so it is vital to start incorporating the right routine and ingredients in skincare. It also important to balance this routine with applying right kind of makeup, which we teach at our Face Palette studio during our internationally accredited Mature women makeup classes

  1. Hydration is the key: Start incorporating moisturising and hydrating products in skincare. Start using hydrating toners once or twice a day to tackle dryness and to help plump up the skin. Use skincare products that are free from Sulphates and Fragrance as much as possible to avoid irritations. Hydrating products like rose water, mogra water, neem water etc are good, however, check on allergies and choose.

  2. Vitamin C: Women in the 30’s are more prone to start getting pigmentation issues due to their significant hormonal changes, sun damage during the past few years etc so incorporating Vitamin C into your skincare can really help to tackle this issue through consistent usage. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and will help to get rid of free radicals from the sun. This ingredient can really help to tackle sun spots, brighten and even out skin tone effectively over a period of time through consistent usage. However, remember Vitamin C is also known to oxidise. Use only brands that are known and have gone through enough R&D to formulate Vitamin C well.

  3. Retinol: Want to get rid of fine lines and boost collagen in the skin? Using Retinol is the key to achieve that. Retinol is also called as Vitamin A. This helps to increase cell turnover over a period of time and increase elasticity and collagen production. Most anti-aging products contain retinol, however, if one needs to consider anti-aging more seriously, there is a need to visit a dermatologist and get prescription retinol. Remember to start from the least percentage and work the way up otherwise there is a possibility of irritation and purging that can come from using Retinols.

  4. Sun Protection: Sun damage is the primary cause of most of the visible aging on the skin such as hyper pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, loss of elasticity etc. Therefore, it is vital to use a sunscreen that suits one’s skin type, which is broad spectrum and protects from both UVA and UVB rays every single day, at least 20 minutes before stepping out between 8am to 5pm. Sun damage does not happen in a day or two, it takes time for it to show on the surface of the skin so it is imperative to protect it on a daily basis. Additionally, some of the ingredients in most of the products that one use on their skin is photo-sensitive in nature which can make the skin more prone to damage in the future which is why it is essential to protect the skin from the sun.

  5. Oils: As one ages, moisture retention capability of the skin goes for a toss. Incorporating oils into the skincare routine will help to seal in the moisture, provide antioxidant properties and help to make the skin soft and supple. Many oils can also help to increase cell turnover and reduce sun damage over a period of time. Every single skin type can use oils, however, use the right oils and right amount is important. Oily skin should use Rosehip, Maracuja, Grapeseed or Evening Primrose oil. Dry skin should use Jojoba, Rosehip, Marula oil. Ensure not more than 2-3 drops are applied and ensure that the oils bought are cold pressed and organic.

  6. Eye cream: Under eyes have the thinnest possible skin imaginable and there are no oil glands present there as well. Therefore the very first signs of aging are visible there in the form of Crow’s feet wrinkles. It is important for everyone to start using eye cream and provide the necessary moisture under eyes both in the morning and at night to tackle moisture loss. Include eye creams that contain caffeine as an ingredient to help tackle puffiness and dullness.
