Cannes 2015 and Bollywood !! - Sonam Kapoor in Ralph and Russo Couture Review - BLUE, without a CLUE

Today I will be doing a review and my take on Bollywood's style-icon and Fashionista Sonam Kapoor's Cannes 2015 appearance wearing a Ralph and Russo Blue Couture gown. She has been walking the Cannes red carpet for the past 5 years and I should say that over the years, sometimes her appearances really stood out whereas sometimes it was a bit blah! (Sorry Sonam...!)

I love being creative with Fashion and Makeup and as I say, there are no strict rules to it. Follow what your heart says and wear it with confidence. However, through a post as such and being a blogger, I put in constructive criticism about what could have been done better by the celebrities and what really stood out to me. I like to say both positives as well as things that could have improved. Sonam Kapoor in Blue Ralph and Russo Couture
This year I had high expectations from her, but her blue couture in Ralph and Russo did not actually cut the edge for me. It is a very, very pretty gown... but... it looked a bit ill-fitting for her.

GOWN: I personally love love love Ralph and Russo Couture gowns. I love the intricate design that goes into their usual collection. This gown was from their couture ball gown collection, which was inspired from the 40's and 50's that was showcased at the Paris Couture Week for the Spring/Summer '14 collection. I personally loved the gown on the ramp and felt that Sonam could have easily pulled it off considering her tall statuesque figure. However, personally, i think the gown was a bit ill-fitting for her... especially on her neckline. It just looks a bit droopy.. a bit here and there..

MAKEUP: Oh god forsakes the makeup that she has on!! I can still understand the gown, but the makeup that she has on... it makes her look tired, ill and drained. Even though concealer has been used under her eyes, it still makes her eyes look tired (maybe the jet-lag and lack of much needed sleep after hectic promos and shoots??!!)... and don't let me step on to her contour and heavy use of bronzer!! Blend, blend, blend that contour!!! She looks muddy and orange with all that bronzer on her face... I love using a bronzer on my face for that extra glow and i personally LOVE contouring... but guys, you need to BLEND it well!! This is Cannes and you cannot go wrong here!! I love she matched her lips and nail colour.. and i loved the fact she went for an orange lip as a contrast to the blue outfit... but the base makeup is just wrong for her. The makeup artist should have used an under-eye corrector to cancel out all the blue and purple tones and then worked on a concealer and layered with something to brighten up her eyes. Her nose is also badly contoured. Well, let's just say, always build up little by little... do not add too much at once then it can go all wrong! The concealer has completely creased under her eyes and you can easily see the fine lines and crow's feet wrinkles she has. Well, remember, always use a concealer that matches your skin type. Her skin must be dehydrated from all the flight journey and travel.. so hydrate, moisturise and use products that is hydrating for her skin, yet to prevent shine from flash photography! Another important point to note is that, from most of the press photographs one can easily spot that she has a blue-coloured bruise on her left arm... maybe the makeup artist should have used a body concealer! C'mon, there are tattoo concealers out there...!!

HAIR: Sonam... seriously! That flowing, shiny brown tresses are gorgeous and to die for... but with that gown that has that kind of neckline... everything just clashes! She has such pretty locks, but the look just did not work for her in my opinion. Her right eye is hardly visible and it is casting a shadow on her face, especially considering she is being photographed on the red carpet by hundreds of people from the media.
ACCESSORIES: I love the fact that she paired the gown with good accessories from Chopard and Giuseppe Zanotti blue stiletto. Love it! :)

Overall Rating: 2/5 Comments: Sonam indeed is a Fashionista and i personally love her taste in fashion and i did have very high expectations from her. I love the fact that she chose to wear Ralph and Russo Blue Couture.. but the overall look just somehow clashed and did not personally work for my taste. Sorry guys if you are Sonam Kapoor fans, but a fact is a fact right! :) Don't hate me! I love her, but her makeup just looks too muddy and un-blended... her hair is lovely, but is not working for this particular outfit. It is a bit messed up here and there... but had her makeup been done properly and her hair put like a messy updo or something.. the Chopard earrings would have looked better, her gown neckline would look more pronounced and most importantly, her smile would have outshined more! Gosh, I can definitely say though, I love her smile! :) What did you all think about her this look? Let me know..
